The keynote speaker, Dr. Jamal Uddin who is a distinguished professor at Coppin State University and founder and also the director of the Center for Nanotechnology, has been teaching chemistry, physical science, environmental science, and nanotechnology since 2005 in the Department of Natural Sciences. His pioneering research focuses on solar cells, nanotechnology, and advanced materials such as graphene, quantum dots, and more, addressing key issues in clean energy, nanomedicine, and energy storage. Dr. Jamal Uddin is a two-time Wilson Elkins Professorship awardee and was recognized as “Innovator of the Year” in both 2011 and 2016. He has published extensively in prestigious journals like 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴, 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘕𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘕𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺. With over $5.1 million in research funding from NSF, DOE, and MIPS, his contributions span critical areas like climate change and energy solutions. He also serves as the corresponding secretary of the AAUP at Coppin State University, Maryland chapter, and is an active member of several professional societies, including ACS and ASES.
