Mr. Bejoy Sikder, Lecturer, Department of EEE, BUET and guest lecturer, Department of EEE, AUST has distinguished himself as an exceptionally talented and ingenious researcher by receiving two offers for PhD program from two departments at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the top engineering school around the globe.
Starting the remarkable journey that led to his incredible accomplishment, this talented individual started his academic life at St. Gregory’s High School in Dhaka. He commenced his undergraduate studies at the Department of EEE, BUET, after graduating from high school, having placed 59th on the entrance exam. He also received merit scholarships for each of the eight semesters and the Dean’s List Award. He worked extensively as a researcher throughout his academic and professional career, publishing 22 papers in all.
On top of that, he is a well-connected and engaged IEEE member. After a year of service as the Newsletter Coordinator at IEEE Joint Chapter Bangladesh, he is currently the Secretary of the organisation.
His academic achievement reached its peak when he received two offer letters in Fall 2024 from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT.
Through this remarkable triumph, he became an inspiration to millions of Bangladeshi students and established an unprecedented example for those who are ardent about higher education.
